Sluggish Network Performance

18 March 2002
A hardware failure in a Roanoke, Virginia, based router handling Virginia Tech traffic has been the source of performance problems since Sunday, 17 March 2002. Communications Network Services (CNS) is working to keep bandwidth management consistent with either this router and another router based in Washington, DC handling university traffic, however we expect performance to be affected throughout Monday, 18 March 2002. CNS appreciates the patience and understanding  of our users and we will post updates as we receive them.
