Magazine Telephone Scam Targets University Community

University telephone service users, frequently students, have recently started receiving calls where they are asked to order the "ESPN Magazine". They are also requested to provide their bank account information to set up a subscription. Money is withdrawn from their account almost immediately. Many people responding affirmatively to this solicitation have subsequently found that the company is not legitimate and does not do business with the "ESPN Magazine".

A prudent approach to such solicitations is to NEVER give bank account information to anyone who calls you. You should initiate the call and then only provide such information to trusted vendors.
