University Calling Card FAQ's
How do I access my new calling card?
You must dial the 800 access number one on the back of
your card. Then follow the prompts. Dialing the 800 access

card rates.
How do I get International Calling Capability added to my calling
card so I can make international calls?
Notify your department's Communications Liaison. The Liaison will relay
your request to the CNS Ordering and Provisioning Team. Please allow up
to 24 hours for this change to take place, although it may be implemented
more quickly.
What do I do if I encounter difficulties placing a call from an overseas
location?
Call collect 281-276-4016 for customer service.

Calling Card Conditions
Conditions Regarding the Use of Your University Calling
Card
University Telephone Calling Cards are issued for the convenience of
faculty and staff who must travel and are required to make business phone
calls during their trips. Recent audits have disclosed that several university
telephone calling cards were used to make personal calls to travelers'
homes or to relatives. Personal phone calls made by an employee on overnight
travel status are reimbursable per the Incidental Expenses allowance of
the Meals and
Incidental
Expenses (M&IE) Policy. This is a policy of the Commonwealth
of Virginia, and one over which we have no control.
The telephone calling card number is vulnerable to theft when another
individual is within sight of the card or the sound of the caller's voice
when a telephone calling card is being used. Calling cards should be treated
with care, just as one would treat any personal credit card. Calling cards
will be canceled immediately if a carrier notifies us of a possibility
of fraud due to questionable calling patterns.
Another issue which creates a problem in terms of controlling the use
of university telephone calling cards is the fact that some cards are
shared by several individuals or in some cases, by an entire department's
employees. Calling cards and/or PIN's must not be shared under any
circumstances! Sharing of calling cards makes it extremely difficult
to have proper accountability over the use of a card. In doing so, you
risk the chance of losing calling card access. Each individual who has
the need for a calling card should be issued their own university telephone
calling card and be held accountable for its use.
Please contact CNS Ordering and Provisioning at 231-6460 or cnsdesign@vt.edu
if changes are made concerning the card, the card holder, the phone number
associated with the card, or if you have questions concerning its use.
